Serving Berkeley, from the flats to the hills
Kids Party Rentals in Berkeley
Berkeley has two very different kinds of party spaces. Down in the flats, from West Berkeley to the Elmwood, houses sit on level lots with modest yards. Up in the hills, streets wind and narrow, and backyards are often stepped, sloped or replaced by a deck with a view. We bring bounce houses, soft play, ball pits and kids tables and chairs to both, handle the setup on level ground, and take everything away when the party is over.

Party spaces from the Berkeley flats to the hills
In the flats, a Berkeley backyard is usually a rectangle of lawn or patio behind a shingle or stucco house, sometimes shared with a rear cottage. These yards are often level enough for an inflatable, though mature trees and garden beds can eat into the open space. North Berkeley and the Thousand Oaks area mix level and gently sloped lots, so check the exact spot before choosing a size.
Higher up, in the Berkeley Hills and parts of Claremont, truly level ground can be scarce. Decks, terraces and garages tend to be the most practical places for a party. Families who want a larger lawn often head to Live Oak Park, Codornices Park or John Hinkel Park, each with picnic space, though the terrain varies and some areas sit on slopes along the creeks.
Which rentals work in Berkeley homes
Where there is a level lawn in the flats, a standard castle bounce house fits most yards and still leaves room for a food table. A combo with a slide needs more length and clearance, so measure carefully or save it for a park. In the hills, soft play and ball pits are often the better choice because they can sit on a deck, a garage floor or indoors without needing stakes.
Kids tables and chairs suit Berkeley's many smaller gatherings, from a first birthday in a living room to a preschool class party on the patio. For a group of older kids, regular-height seating around a single activity works better than spreading out. Pairing a toddler soft play corner with a separate bounce house for older siblings keeps different ages from colliding.
Hills, narrow streets and microclimates in Berkeley
Many hill streets are narrow, winding and lined with parked cars, and some homes are reached by long stairways from the road. Tell us about stairs, steep driveways and the distance from the curb to the party area, since that affects which items can be carried in safely. In the flats, weekend parking near busy commercial streets can also be tight, so saving a curb spot helps.
Weather shifts with elevation and distance from the bay. West Berkeley can be breezy in the afternoon, while hill neighborhoods may sit in fog in the morning and sun by midday. Any inflatable needs level ground, open space around it and a nearby outlet, or a generator in a park. Campus housing and apartment buildings near downtown usually have their own rules, so check those first.

Berkeley party rental questions
Our Berkeley Hills home has no flat yard. What can we rent?
Skip the inflatable and build around soft play, a ball pit and kids tables and chairs. These set up on a level deck, a garage floor or inside the house, and they do not need stakes. If you still want a bounce house, a park with a level lawn is the better place for it.
Can rentals be carried down a hillside stairway to our yard?
Some can. Soft play pieces, ball pits and kids furniture are easier to carry than a rolled inflatable, which is heavy and bulky. Tell us how many steps there are, how steep and narrow they are, and whether there are landings. That lets us confirm what can reach your party spot safely before you book.
Does morning fog in the hills affect a Berkeley party?
Fog itself is not a problem for the equipment, though it can leave grass and decks damp until it burns off. A late-morning or early-afternoon start usually brings drier surfaces and more sun. Wind is the bigger factor for inflatables, especially in exposed spots, so a sheltered location is worth choosing.
How much is delivery to Berkeley?
Delivery to Berkeley is $80. You are about 12.3 miles from our Oakland warehouse, and that falls inside our flat-rate zone, so the fee is the same $80 whether you book one item or a full setup. The fee covers the round trip, setup when we arrive and collection afterwards. It is calculated from your exact address at checkout, so the figure you see is the figure you pay.
Is setup included, or do I put it up myself?
Setup is included. We deliver to your Berkeley address, position and set up everything, and come back to collect it at the end of your window. You do not assemble anything, and there is no separate labour charge.
How far ahead should I book?
Online bookings need at least 7 days of notice, and you can book up to 12 months ahead. In practice Berkeley weekends in spring and summer go early, so booking three to six weeks out gives you the best choice of dates and items. Nothing is held without a deposit, so the date is only yours once that is paid.
What deposit do you take, and what if I need to cancel?
A 50% deposit and a signed rental agreement reserve your items. The balance is due one week before the event, and bookings made inside that week are paid in full up front. If you need to move the date for weather, illness or anything else, your payment transfers to the new date subject to availability. If you cancel outright, the payment becomes in-house credit you can use for up to 18 months.
Can I choose an exact delivery time?
Standard delivery and collection are one-hour arrival windows, which lets us route the day's Berkeley runs efficiently. If your venue or party schedule needs a precise time, you can add a guaranteed exact-time slot for $100 at checkout and we build the route around it.
Can I keep the rentals overnight?
Yes. Same-day collection is standard, and an overnight or next-morning pickup is $75. It is worth considering for an evening party in Berkeley, since it takes the pressure off the end of the event and we collect the following day instead.
Which parts of Berkeley do you cover?
All of Berkeley, including North Berkeley, Elmwood, Claremont, Berkeley Hills, Thousand Oaks, West Berkeley and Westbrae, plus the surrounding East Bay. The delivery fee is the same across the city, so where you are inside Berkeley does not change the price.
